Tiello Job Description: Commercial Roofing Project Manager
Overview:
Tiello has partnered with a respected and successful roofing contractor in the Southeast in their search for a Commercial Roofing Project Manager. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in overseeing construction projects from start to finish while fostering the growth of field employees and upholding the company’s core values: honesty, safety, quality, and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Monitoring: Develop and deliver detailed project plans to the team to ensure successful project outcomes in terms of safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale, and environmental impact (SQDCME). Regularly monitor projects to maintain alignment with the established plans and report performance to department heads.
- Goal Setting: Set and achieve daily, actionable goals for each foreman and provide consistent project updates to department heads.
- Coordination & Communication: Work closely with the estimator to review essential project details, such as contracts, budgets, timelines, and requirements. Ensure clear hand-offs to Construction Managers and foremen for efficient project execution.
- Job Oversight: Directly oversee multiple roofing projects, approve weekly time cards, and verify production versus costs. Track project progress, issue change orders, update billing, and handle material orders.
- On-Site Leadership: Visit each job site 1-2 times per week, meeting with Construction Managers and foremen to address needs. Be present at project milestones (hand-off, 50% and 100% completion) to ensure continuity and quality.
- Safety & Quality Control: Champion safety and quality standards on-site daily. Provide ongoing support to Construction Managers and foremen to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate project documentation and deliver regular reports to department heads. Send daily task updates to ensure alignment across teams.
- Pre-Project Site Visits: Assess sites before the start of each project to ensure all preparations meet company standards.
Qualifications:
- Project Management: Proven experience managing 4–5 multi-million-dollar commercial roofing projects simultaneously.
- Roofing Expertise: Must have hands-on experience with torch-down roofing, cold sealant applications, and modified bitumen systems.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial roofing, with in-depth knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, including site development, demolition, and remodels. Proficient in reading and interpreting roofing plans and specifications.
- Skills: Proficient in project estimation, cost tracking, and managing large-scale commercial roofing projects. Exceptional communication, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- License: Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry between 15 and 50 pounds regularly and up to 150 pounds occasionally.
- Capable of working on ladders up to 40 feet, with manual dexterity for roofing tasks, including tar pot, torch, and wheelbarrow handling.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round, handling exposure to hot and cold conditions, as well as dust, dirt, fumes, and noise.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to all safety practices, actively participate in safety training, and correct hazardous conditions. Investigate and report any incidents or near-misses.
